Possible Fuji S1 specifications

A bit of detective work on the web has revealed a list of S1 preliminary specs and I say preliminary as this hasn’t appeared as an official list as yet. It will be interesting to see what comes from CES 2014 tomorrow.

It looks to be based on an upgrade of the SL1000 and the worst thing is  the 1/2.3 sensor looks to have been retained.

One interesting note is that this camera appears to be weather resistant. That is a good thing, but I feel it comes at the cost of no manual lens.

The smaller sensor  and electronic zoom aside, this camera actually looks like it could have some potential. It will be interesting to see what the AF , write times and start up times are. The SL1000 apparently is pretty snappy in these departments. The sensor is an improvement no doubt on that used in the HS10, of which I was reasonably happy with at 10Mp but at 16Mp on the same sized sensor makes me think noise could be a real issue. The lens is fairly good too, f5.6 at 1200 mm effective is a pretty bright baby by most standards. F 2.8  over the entire range as with the Panasonic FZ would be nice but at 50X zoom it could prove too expensive for Fuji’s marketing division to swallow.

    1. Yeah hard to go past that constant aperture too.
My only problem with the Panny is its size, assuming its basically the same as the FZ150 I had a play with, for me its just too light and too small, hard to hold onto. But thats just me an my dinner plate hands 🙂
